Review Policy

*Note I am making a few changes, and will likely make more as I go. Even if you have read it all before, please take the time to glance over things, to make sure you don't miss anything.

Thank you for checking this page, early review requests are closed, but if you want an interview, spotlight, guest post, or other promo please look over the things below an email me😊

Review requests are tentatively open! I will be accepting a small number of books for review each month.  Requests are closed for now while I catch up! Feel free to seen a request, but I won't be accepting any right away. If I am interested in reviewing your book, I will get back to you once I get caught up on current outstanding requests.

I will gladly accept review requests from authors and publishers. (I do review indie/self published books as well)
At this point in time, I am only able to accept ebooks of .mobi or epub files. I am also happy to review physical book copies.

If you’re an author that I’ve already reviewed here on Adventures Thru Wonderland, please shoot me an email! I’d love to add another piece of you to my blog (like an interview or even another review!). Speaking of interviews, I wish to begin featuring interviews on the blog, if you’re interested in an interview, or even a giveaway, please state that in your email. I won’t always ask, so it’s up to you to say whether or not you’d like to participate in one!

A few things you should know before sending me a Review Request:

πŸ“• I am currently the only one here, and so that mean I can't always get to reading/reviewing your book as soon as I'd like. I tend to have rather a long to-read lists and, as of right now, I'm the only one reading requested books. It may take me a bit to get to your book, but we’ll get to it. (I try for 2-3 weeks after I receive it, but if it's an ARC not due for a few months, a review might have to wait until closer to the publish date, so I can get to the ones getting published sooner reviewed on or before their publish date!)

πŸ“• I’ll state whether or not I were given a copy of your book. It looks something like
“I RECEIVED A COPY OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW”
It usually comes right at the top.

πŸ“• I'm always COMPLETELY honest about our thoughts on a book. It’s sometimes not the prettiest, nor the kindest thing in the world, but it’s honest. In the end, that’s what you asked for. Not all books are for everyone, and you can’t change someone’s opinion. If we didn’t like it, we didn’t like it. I’m sorry.
(Though I will say up front if I'm not interested in a book. If you ask me for a review, and I don't think I will like the book, I will tell you when I respond to your request.)

πŸ“• I'm the only one currently here for requests and reviews, but my tastes are pretty broad. I am most comfortable reading Fantasy (High, Epic, and Urban), but also read Action/Adventures, Classics, Fairy-Tales, Historical, Mythology, Paranormal and Supernatural (but no demon love, vampire/shifter/etc maybe, I don't do demon/human/angel love, but bad demons are fine, same for angels I just don't like them in romances, most anything else is fine). I have recently taken to reading YA/NA dark fantasy/horror/Gothic style books from time to time, and so far really enjoyed them! (Examples: Stalking Jack the Ripper, The University of Corporeal & Ethereal Studies, The Devil in Canaan Parish) I also read other things, those are just the ones I have the most experience reading. I read almost anything though, so if you have a book you would like reviewed, or a suggestion for a book you thing I would like, feel free to message me! Also if you have a non-fiction, I will read some history, biographies, memoirs, and some science/environmental/civilization type things, but will be slightly more picky depending on what the book's about. Feel free to ask though ^^ I do sometimes venture out and read things I don't often read. I also enjoy children's books, so I'm open to reviewing those too! I also love powerful Christian and Inspirational books, both fiction and nonfiction.

πŸ“•List of things I won't read or review: Erotica, Gay/Trans/Les/Bi Romance, Westerns(with some exceptions), Political (this one is only for detailed stuff, a little, or mentions are fine), Self-Help, Fitness, or Cooking Books(unless its desserts or bread πŸ˜‰)

I am also more reserved about Horror and Romance, but will read a little of both, it's just not something I read all the time. I often enjoy horror and romance more if they are not the main focus. A good thriller or action book with horror or romance is much more likely to get a good review than a slasher or chick-flik type story.

πŸ“• I post my reviews on several sites. I do not post the whole review, it’s more like a small snippet and the link to the post. As of July 1st 2016, I post my reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook page, Pinterest and occasionally Instagram. (Update June 2017, I have also started regulary reviewing on Instagram and Litsy. I also try to cross-post Goodreads reviews to LibraryThing) If you have any specific sites you would like your review posted, please state that in your email. I'm always looking for new ways to connect with my readers and get my reviews out there, so any suggestions are welcome and much appreciated. If you would like your review posted on Smashwords, you have to provide me with a coupon code to be able to post it.
I also review on NetGalley and Edelweiss if I received your book from either site.

πŸ“•  If I don’t accept your review request and you write another book, please feel free to email me a review request for the other book.

πŸ“• I won't post reviews for books that are under 3 stars on my blog unless the author/publisher asks me to. (As of 2017 I have started posting ALL reviews on my blog, but only post low reviews to Amazon if asked to. I don't share them on social media except Instagram and Litsy unless asked to. In both cases I give a short review, and the main reason for the low rating.) I will write a short reason as to why I gave the low rating on Goodreads, but that will be all. I don't feel it's right to spread poor reviews around without the author/publisher's consent, even though my reviews are always my honest opinion, I still respect that writing and publishing books takes a lot of time and money.

πŸ“•  Hassling me won’t make the process any faster…
But feel free to remind me if its been over a month with no updates. I am busy, and do my best to keep track, but some things do slip my mind.

πŸ“•πŸ“• If you are requesting a review for SEVERAL books, you MUST send in TWO (or more) SEPARATE review requests, in two (or more) SEPARATE emails! You are welcome to REPLY to a completed request with a new request, but PLEASE don't send them in one LONG message. This way I don't miss read it if I'm in a hurry and am quickly looking over the email. I try to read everything you say, but sometimes I miss things.
Do not say “I would also like you to read my other book ‘x’, so I’ve also attached it.” It's annoying; I accepted the book I accepted, if you’d like me to read more than one of your book, you must send in a request for each book. I also don't always have time for two, and have other people wanting a review. If we review the first book you requested, any requested after won’t take priority...It wouldn’t be fair to other authors. This is an exception if it's a series or another book (Prequel, companion, sequel, etc.) to the book I just read/reviewed for you. I will happily get back to you and would be glad to read more of your books, just don't expect to be bumped to the front of the line! :) πŸ“•πŸ“•

What your email should contain:
πŸ“• The title of the book
πŸ“• The name of the author
πŸ“• The genres in which you consider your book
πŸ“• The Blurb/Synopsis*
πŸ“• All of the links to your social media accounts
πŸ“• Links to where the book is currently being sold
πŸ“• If you are self published, or independent, PLEASE let me know! It does not effect anything except if I choose to read your book and I enjoy it, I will be more likely to mention these on Instagram for photo challenges than those from Big Name publishers, just because less people know about these, and I enjoy helping authors and artists get discovered.

Although all the links aren't required for me to consider and accept a request, if you don't provide a way for readers to find you and your book, I won't search for them, and that might discourage some readers if there isn't a link easily found on my post. If I don't have time to find the links, odds are they won't either.

*I get my blurbs from Goodreads, so if  you want a certain synopsis/blurb posted on the review, state that in your email. (Or Amazon if there is no blurb on GR)

Setting up the review takes just as long, if not longer, than writing the actual review. You help me out SO much by sending me the links to everything. It makes the process a million times faster.
You don't have to send me a .mobi copy of your book before I give you my answer. In fact, it makes me a bit uncomfortable when you do, even though I don't download it unless I give you a definite yes. NOTE This will not improve, OR decrese you chances of a review, you still have the same chance of approveal as everyone else.

If I rejected your book:
If I reject your book, I can assure you that it is with a heavy heart and not personal in any way. I will reject a book if I am not sure I would enjoy reading it...It would be entirely unfair of me to accept a book review request for a book I won't enjoy. To people who would enjoy that type of book, it might be amazing. A book that's amazing by it's own standards doesn't deserve a bad review.
Another reason I might reject your request, although it hasn't happened thus far, is because you offer little to no information about your book. I receive many review requests a week; it makes it much easier for me if I don’t have to hunt down information or click links to the blurb. It’s much easier to turn down a book that you know nothing about...I'm sorry, but it's true.
Turning down requests has been a terribly hard thing for me to do (I usually put it off until my to-email list is impossibly long). Even if your book isn't accepted it remains in our lists! Every single book review request we have ever gotten is listed in the program we use. I make sure that our part time reviewer's first task is to look through the people we've had to turn down. We don't forget about you!

 ~~

Thank you so much for even considering asking me for a review! See my contact page for my email and other ways to contact me. If I don’t reply to you within two weeks, please email me again or, PM me on one of our social media accounts (there’s buttons on the top right sidebar, and also on the ‘Contact Me’ page). It may have been accidentally looked over or sent to my spam folder.

Happy reading!

**By sending me an email you're giving me permission to add you to my email list. You may receive emails if I am looking for authors to interview/participate in a giveaway.

****All reviews sent in after June 1, 2016 must follow these requirements. Any who don't will be bumped down the list**

I usually rate books 3-4 since most of them I find to be pretty average, but still over all good books. The 4s have more going for them, but were still not quite enough to be my all time favorites.

PERSONAL RATING SYSTEM

5 - loved it! One of my Top Favorites

4 - Really liked, but it just didn't make it to my all time favorites list.

3 - it was OK, but could have been better.(Average quality)

2 - it was bad enough that I had considerable trouble finishing it

1 - it was terrible, and I regret reading it (If I DID finish it)

I hate starting a book and not finishing it, so I will suffer through most, you know if I don't even finish a book, that's a very bad sign. Some just are not my style or taste, and might be great books for readers who enjoy that genre, but others are all around bad. Just because I give it a low rating/don't finish it does not mean the book is all bad, but you might want to check what other readers have said about it to be sure it's not a waste of time. * I have done this, there is no shame in it!* XD

As I am currently the only one here, I am only accepting review requests that catch my interest, and that I look forward to reading. If you think your book matches any of the genre mentioned above, or any of my reviews posted feel free to send me your request.
