My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ridgeway Rescue Mysteries can be read in 1-2 hours. Perfect for when you’re waiting for an appointment or just want a fast read. Don’t miss out on this quick, clean, cozy mystery that will keep you guessing until the end! It’s Valentine’s Day and 20-year-old Emma Wright just wants her crush to take notice of her. But Colby Davidson, the K9 search and rescue deputy only thinks of her as a kid sister. How will she get him to take her seriously?
When her veterinarian boss calls her to pick up a cat at a potential crime scene, she finds herself at the house of the richest woman in Ridgeway. Her father—the sheriff—and Colby are there. They both dismiss the untimely death as a heart attack, but Emma finds clues that it might be something more. Did the software billionaire die of natural causes, or was it murder?

Short and simple. I enjoyed this story, and look forward to reading more from the author. While it has some flaws, and isn't complex at all, it's a great quick read, and one that I recommend. There are a few inconsistencies, and Emma the main character isn't very observant of her surroundings, but she is a fun character, and does end up solving the case.

I enjoyed the mystery, and seeing Emma fit the pieces together, and her sweet crush on Colby was fun. This isn't a book for someone looking for plot twists and surprises, but if you don't mind simple, and want a quick read, this one is perfect for waiting in a doctor's office, or to unwind with a quick read.

There were minor spelling errors and one point the story said Molly, a Saint Bernard puppy, was in a truck, then changed to say she waited in the car, and at one point Emma missed her father and his partner's squad car, which turned out to be parked right next to her own. Little things that I noticed while reading, and that could have been fixed with some quick edits, but I enjoyed reading about the animals, and seeing how Emma would solve the mystery.
