Review: Fragile Chaos

35156247 Fragile Chaos by Amber R. Duell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“[E]very fiber of my being is woven from the rage of mortals.”

Theodoric, the young God of War, has a talent for inciting conflict and bloodshed. After being stripped of his powers by his older brother, King of Gods, he sets out to instigate a mortal war to prove himself worthy of being restored to power.

“I loved Kisk once; it was my home… But that was before. This is now.”

Sixteen-year-old Cassia, like many in the modern era, believes gods and goddesses to be just a myth. Enemy to her country and an orphan of the war, she has no time for fairy tales. That’s until religious zealots from Theo’s sect offer her up as a sacrifice.

Can Cassia and Theo end the mortal war and return balance to the earth and heavens? Or, will their game of fate lead down a path of destruction, betrayal, and romance neither of them saw coming?

This book...THIS BOOK. I really really want another book in this world! I love the mythology created, and how everything is original, but the characters feel like old friends! Ok, so it wasn't my favorite mythology of the year or even favorite read, but I love the world building and characters, and would gladly be pulled back into this universe!

I *did* have a problem with the romance being so rushed but am glad that was covered and explained later in the book. I loved the chemistry between Cassia and Theo and would have loved to see more, but I understand why it was written the way it is.

I loved all the gods and goddesses, and would really like to see more of Cy and Leander, but I'm happy with how things turned out if there aren't any more books to come.

I can't wait to see what  Amber R. Duell writes next, but I'm hoping there is more mythology her future! Her world-building and characterization are enchanting!

I don't recommend this so much as a romance story because I feel it was very rushed, but more for the fact that if you like mythology, this one is fresh and original!
